Tuesday 5th – Saturday 9th March
The 8th of March is International Women’s Day, and as last year we are looking forward to organising a week of events with our growing community of Stroud women, called Stroud Sisterhood, and Stroud Goddess Temple.
‘Daughters of Mother Earth’. Female artists of Stroud and surrounding areas are again invited to work around this theme, in which parallels will be drawn between our feminine capacities and those of Mother Earth. Thoughts evolve around the Earth’s soil growing seeds as the womb of the women is to children, women’s menstruation as connected to the phases of the moon and thus the tides of the ocean and much more. We expect more than 20 artists to participate, working with a broad range of materials and expression forms.
Next to the art shown, there will be interactive workshops in and around the Gallery , all derived from this theme, from Earths Drum Journeys, Healing powers of Biodynamics, Nature songs for and from women, offering ceremonies for the Earth, Nature Rhythms and Sacred Dance etc.
This year we are raising funds again by selling art and related products during the exhibition and asking for donations for participation in the events around the exhibition. Again we want to support local charities, this time looking for a connection with nature and women, thus we have chosen Treesisters, and Stroud Goddess Temple.
